SCW3000 Series historic replica windows breathe new life into the 100-year-old Minneapolis General Electric Company (M.G.E.CO.) Garfield Substation.
Custom designed to match the sightlines and historic aesthetics of the 11-foot openings and the 36-inch diameter showpiece front window, the building complements the historic Minneapolis Lyn-Lake residential neighborhood.
The Renaissance Revival-style substation was built in 1909 and remained in operation through the late 1980s. Located in the historic Minneapolis Lyn-Lake neighborhood, the Garfield Substation is locally significant, and historically significant, under the National Register of Historic Places Criterion C, but is not listed as a registered historic place at this time.
