St. Cloud Window Inc. is recognized for Gaillard Hall restoration in US Glass magazine. From USGlass magazine (http://www.glassmagazine.com/article/commercial/greatglazing-gaillard-hall-renovation-1310679):
The basics: The $5.6 million restoration and rehabilitation of Gaillard Hall marks the final phase in a $70 million project at the University of North Georgia military college. The major renovation of Gaillard Hall transformed the 1950s era, international-style military barracks into a 21st-century residence hall, complete with all modern amenities. The renovation included window and glass replacements in the residence suites and the lobby.
“Our goal was to sensitively retrofit Gaillard to be consistent with the newly constructed military housing on campus while maintaining as much of the interior and exterior historic fabric as possible,” said Ross Davis, Gaillard project architect for Lord, Aeck & Sargent.
The players: Architect, Lord, Aeck & Sargent; general contractor, Choate Construction; window manufacturer, St. Cloud Window; window installer, Glass Stream.
The glass and systems: The existing windows in the building wings had originally been replaced in the 1980s. The project team replaced them with new aluminum windows that mimicked the profile of the original steel windows: the 2500 series for historic replacement windows, aluminum frame with insulating glass. The original single-glazed signature historic steel windows in the lobby were restored and updated—the windows were modified to accommodate wider insulating glass units.
