Position Summary: The Project Estimator responds to qualified inquiries requesting quotations for construction projects in need of windows, doors, and other fenestration products, in accordance with product specifications, architectural drawings, and/or customer take-offs, by using the tools and information that reside in a proprietary estimating program, along with specific material furnished by other vendors, to calculate, compose, and communicate quotations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Determine the scope of work to be quoted based on customer takeoffs, architectural drawings, product and project specifications
- Communicate with customers to correctly identify specific product attributes to be quoted, performance requirements, pricing options, and bidding strategies
- Work closely with vendors and fabricators to procure timely and precise quotes for materials furnished by others
- Calculate a selling price based on product cost information, profit margin requirements, and other considerations
- Create quotations that are thorough, precise, and complete
- Collaborate with SCW sales associates, and external sales representatives to coordinate bidding strategies
- Assist the business office in setting up new contracts based on accepted quotations
- Assist project managers in understanding the scope and dynamics of quotations accepted for contract
- Follow up with customers to understand the disposition of our quotations, and gain insight into the market dynamics affecting the outcome of our efforts
- Track costs of product components and labor allocations to assure the integrity of the estimating system
- Perform other duties as required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to comprehend construction bidding documents including but not limited to architectural drawings, product specifications, and allied product information requirements
- Demonstrate knowledge and previous experience with commercial fenestration products in application to commercial construction
- Capable of managing specific information and particular details in evolving iterations of multiple quotations
- Effective and proficient communicator, with demonstrable writing composition, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Manage multiple and sometimes competing priorities, while working independently with minimal supervision
- Knowledge and proficiency with various computer software packages (e.g. Office Suite, ERP, etc.)
Credentials and Experience:
- Associates Degree or higher or equivalent experience
- At least two years of experience successfully estimating construction materials or related manufactured products
- At least two years of experience in construction or related industries
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks a plus
